The Challenge of Rural Education
Across the rural and tribal belts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, thousands of children face a daily struggle that has nothing to do with their intelligence or their will to learn. After long days of helping families with agricultural work or domestic duties, these children return home to dimly lit rooms — with no teacher, no guidance, and little hope of catching up with their urban peers.
MERCE Charitable Trust saw this gap and decided to act.
Our Evening Tuition Centres
Since our founding, MCT has established Evening Tuition Centres in some of the most underserved villages in our operating regions. These centres provide free, structured tutoring sessions every weekday evening, covering core subjects such as Mathematics, Science, English and Telugu.
"Before the tuition centre opened in our village, my daughter had no one to help her with homework. Now she is top of her class." — Parent of a student in Nalgonda District
Each centre is staffed by trained and compassionate educators who understand the local context and the unique challenges these children face. We do not simply teach — we mentor, encourage, and nurture a love for learning.
Impact So Far
- Over 400 children currently enrolled across active centres
- 85% of enrolled students showed measurable improvement in annual school examinations
- Several students from our programme have gone on to secure merit scholarships
How You Can Help
Our tuition centres run on the generosity of donors, volunteers, and partner organisations. Whether you can sponsor a child's learning materials, volunteer as a teacher, or partner with us to open a new centre — every contribution counts.
Together, we can ensure that geography and poverty are never barriers to a bright future.
